Gin (Mother's Ruins)
A distilled alcoholic drink flavoured coupled with mash water and other botanical ingredients. It is also known as Mother's Ruins. The reason of such nickname is because allowed women to drink alongside men for the first time and it is thought this led many women neglecting their children and turning to prostitution.
This drink was invented in Netherlands back in the 17th century. Later on gin also became very popular in England. Unfortunatly this also led to a tragic problem when many people drank themselves to death since the value of gin was cheap and contained a lot of alcohol. Nowadays is mostly a dry liquor that is on most occasions mixed with tonic water (Gin & Tonic) or with vermouth (Martini) to create quite tasteful cocktails.
